Mayuko Totsuka is the Sustainability and Net Zero Carbon Lead for the Strategic Advisory Services in the Middle East at Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group. Her role is to help clients across the public and private sectors create building and infrastructure assets that are climate resilient and enable them to achieve their Net Zero goals. With a background in Environmental Science and Policy, she is passionate about Sustainable Development enabled by the science-policy interface, especially concerning climate change and biodiversity. She currently leads the company’s DecarbonomicsTM roll-out in the Middle East region – making carbon visible and cost effectively.
Mayuko has over 13 years of experience in Sustainability and Management Consulting in the UAE and Japan. Her expertise includes Sustainability Strategy, Strategic Environmental Planning and Business Transformation. She is experienced in Sustainability Reporting, Materiality Assessment and ESG Investing as a Corporate Sustainability Strategy expert as well as Green Buildings Advisory, HSE Internal Audit, and Environmental Impact Assessment as a Subject Matter Expert in Environment and Sustainability. She has extensive experience in Real Estate, Aviation, Defense, Hospitality and Construction, Oil and Gas, Power and Utilities, Government and Public Sector. She has worked on projects across the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
Mayuko’s credentials include LEED AP BD+C, WELL AP, Estidama PQP, Practitioner IEMA and Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting (FSA) Level II Candidate. She holds BSc (Honors) and MSc from University of California, Berkeley and London School of Economics.
